ADOLF WEBER

Adolfo Weber (Guadalajara, Jalisco, 1968) is an abstract painter and multidisciplinary artist trained in Visual Arts Studies at the Cabañas Cultural Institute (1988–1992). Since 1990, he has developed a sustained career with solo and group exhibitions in Mexico and abroad, exploring the field of non-figurative art through gestural processes, layers, glazes, and a chromatic investigation that stems from "the unknown" rather than figurative representation.

Her work has been exhibited in venues in Jalisco, Colima, Zacatecas, and Nuevo León, as well as in Düsseldorf (Germany), Madrid (Spain), New York (USA), and Milan (Italy). Her solo exhibitions include Sacred Container (Guadalajara Tourism Secretariat, 2016), Resting Place / Nesting Place (INBA, Espacio Azul, 2015), Coordinates… (2012), Abstract (2010), Fire and Looting (2008), and Nonexistent Countries (2004). Her work is part of institutional collections such as that of the Museum of the Arts (MUSA), University of Guadalajara.

He has twice received the October Salon Prize (Guadalajara) and three honorable mentions at the same competition, in addition to recognition at the Alfonso Michel Biennial (Colima) and the Zacatecas Painting Salon. Publications such as Four Centuries of Painting from Jalisco and catalogs from the Center for Modern Art (Madrid) have documented his work. In the artist's own words, his pictorial research is based on the dialogue between interior and exterior, the tension between emptiness and matter, and a constant desire to avoid repetition.
