Miguel Castro Leñero was born in Mexico City in 1956. He studied painting at the National School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving “La Esmeralda”, of the National Institute of Fine Arts (INBA), and later entered the Engraving Workshop of the Center for Research and Plastic Experimentation of the same institute, where he expanded his technical and conceptual mastery.

Her artistic career formally began in 1980 with a solo exhibition at the Casa de la Cultura in Oaxaca. Since then, she has developed a solid national and international career, exhibiting her work in countries such as the United States, Austria, Brazil, Germany, and Spain. Geometric abstraction, symbolic elements, and the reinterpretation of the everyday are fundamental characteristics of her style.

He has received numerous awards, including the Acquisition Prize at the National Salon of Visual Arts (1981), the Acquisition Prize at the First Rufino Tamayo Painting Biennial (1982), and First Prize at the Second Young Artists' Encounter in Aguascalientes that same year. In 1992, he received the Acquisition Prize at the Eco Art International in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Among his most notable exhibitions are: *The Breath of the Night* (Carrillo Gil Museum, 1982), *Divided Landscape* (Museum of Modern Art, 1986), *Paintings and Drawings* (Museum of Contemporary Art of Oaxaca, 1994), and his participation in the exhibition *Mexico Today* (Casa de América, Madrid, 1992). Likewise, the López Quiroga Gallery has been a frequent venue for the presentation of his work, with exhibitions such as *Everyday Mysteries* (1990), *The Utopia of Miguel Castro Leñero* (1993), *Recent Work* (1995), *The Paper Flower* (2000), and *Essential Forms* (2003).

For over four decades, Miguel Castro Leñero has developed a personal aesthetic that combines abstract lyricism with a constant exploration of the visual environment. His work is part of important public and private collections and continues to be a benchmark of contemporary art in Mexico.
